WV: Martinsburg Picked As Best Place in State to Buy an Old House

In mid-March each year, This Old House magazine editors picks one town in each state as well as Canadian provinces that they believe are the best places to buy a historic home – and Martinsburg was picked to represent West Virginia for 2011.

As originally reported by The Journal in February, applying for the designation was a project of the City Club of Martinsburg. Members reviewed the process and selection at their meeting Wednesday.

While it was Susan Pritchard’s idea to apply, Charlie Connolly, Carolyn Snyder and Becky Frye put together the lengthy and detailed application with the help of renown local historian Don C. Wood.
