WI: Milwaukee Home Sales Jumped 41% in August

Gay Wisconsin Real EstateAugust sales of existing homes in the Milwaukee metro area jumped more than 41% from the same month a year ago, the second consecutive month that sales topped last year’s totals.

Realtors sold 1,338 homes in August in Milwaukee, Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee counties, up from 946 in August 2010, according to Metro MLS Inc. figures released Monday. Sales also increased 3.8% on a month-to-month basis from this July’s 1,289.

The year-over-year comparison is somewhat skewed, however, by federal tax credits that lured homebuyers into the market during the first half of last year, leaving sales to drop off in the second half.
