Local real estate professionals see recent positive economic news as foretelling good things for the housing market — which is just as well, given that the housing numbers themselves continue to provide little hope.
“If you were in any mall in Washington state in December, you got the feeling that the economy is headed in the right direction,” Windermere Real Estate Co. President OB Jacobi said in Wednesday news release from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service. “That increase in consumer confidence is the boost the real estate market needs.”
The listing service did report Wednesday that more than 33 percent more King County homes sold in December than in November. But pending sales, which can be the best indicator of recent activity – given how long it takes sales to close – fell nearly 15 percent.
