RealtyTrac released its 2010 Year-End Metropolitan Foreclosure Market Report on Wednesday, and one in every 16 Reno-Sparks homes went into foreclosure in 2010. The national average was one in 45 homes.
Reno-Sparks ranked 11th on the list of the nation’s 206 metropolitan areas in foreclosure activity. In 2010, 11,005 properties received a foreclosure notice. That was a decrease of only .29 percent from 2009 but a 61.77 percent increase from 2008.
Foreclosure activity increased from 2009 in 149 of the 206 areas, but the metro areas with the 10 highest foreclosure rates all had decreased activity from 2009. Six of the top 10 also posted decreasing foreclosure activity from 2008. California, Florida, Nevada and Arizona cities accounted for 19 of the top 20 metro foreclosure rates, with Boise City-Nampa, Idaho the lone exception at No. 20.
