New, Tougher Mortgage Rules Spur Winnipeg Real Estate Market

Winnipeg Real EstateBusiness has been pretty one-sided for many of Winnipeg’s real estate agents these days. “Every second call coming my way is another buyer, where typically there would be a buyer then a seller,” said RE/MAX agent, Glen Sytnyk. “It’s all buyers or almost all buyers.”

That’s because the Winnipeg real estate market is changing and so are the rules.

On March 18th, new mortgage rules will make it tougher for new home buyers to qualify for a mortgage. The changes will also reduce the amount of money homeowners can borrow against their home.
