Sales rose 22.8 percent in Buncombe to 151 homes, up from 123 a year ago, according to N.C. Mountains Multiple Listing Service. Increases were even larger in neighboring counties. Sales were up 104 percent in Haywood County, 61.2 percent in Henderson County and 34 percent in Transylvania County.
Last year’s harsh winter kept many potential home buyers from shopping and thus cut sales a year ago, but there is also some improvement in general market conditions, real estate agents have said. January sales were also up significantly.
