Mortgage Rates Drop to New Low

Mortgage Rates at Record LowLong-term mortgage rates fell to new lows this week, according to Freddie Mac ‘s weekly rate report.

Thirty-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 3.89 percent in the week ending Jan.12, dipping from 3.91 percent the previous week and hitting the lowest level since Freddie Mac began keeping track.

Fifteen-year fixed-rate mortgages fell to a record low 3.16 percent. A one-year adjustable-rate mortgage averaged 2.76 percent, down from 2.80 percent the previous week.
