MO: St. Louis Home Sales Increased, Prices Slid in January

St. Louis Real EstateSales are up, but prices down. That’s still the story of residential real estate in St. Louis, according to January figures from the St. Louis Association of Realtors.

Sales rose 19 percent in St. Louis city and county in January, compared to January of 2011. But median prices were down 15.1 percent. Sales have been rising for the past eight months, but prices continue to decline.

Home builders also had a better month in January, with 159 permits for new single-family homes issued, compared to 106 the previous January. The Home Builders Association figures cover St. Louis city and county, and St. Charles, Jefferson, Lincoln, Franklin and Warren Counties.
