New Yorkers might think we’re getting our own Tower Of Pisa, but as Gothamist explains, it’s supposed to lean like that:
A new building is going up near a long-empty land parcel near the East River in Midtown, and it looks a little…sideways. Lest you think this sloped structure is the product of some Jägerbombed architect, it turns out the building is supposed to look like it’s trying to nap on its neighbor’s shoulder.
The development, located at 626 First Avenue and designed by SHoP Architects, will be comprised of two copper-covered high-rise towers connected by a bridge. One such tower will lean ever so gently into the other.
