IA: Home Prices, Sales Up in October

Iowa Real EstateThe Iowa Association of Realtors(R) (IAR) reports that home sales and prices across the state were up again in October.

IAR’s 2011 October Housing Trends Report shows the number of home sales in October increased by 12.4 percent, with 287 more sales last month than last October. IAR reports 2,606 homes sold/closed in October 2011, while 2,319 homes sold/closed in October 2010.

Prices were also up slightly last month. The average sale price in October was up $2,845, representing an increase of 2.1 percent from last year. The average sale price across Iowa in October 2011 was $138,739, while the average sale price in October 2010 was $135,894.
