We have so many visitors to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains, between 9 and 10 million each year, that in taking care of my day to day real estate business, family, friends and paying attention to my partner I sometimes forget about the real beauty of the area. It’s really a special place.
Gay & lesbian visitors find the area very appealing I’ve found. Several times a year I’m contacted, usually by couples or groups of friends, who have the hope of finding the perfect home or second home here in the mountains. I’m always curious as to what the draw to our area is for each person or group. I’ve been told the National Park and surrounding scenery are a major pull as well as the shopping in the outlet malls and Dollywood.
Of course, we do get the purist investor who seeks a rental property for income and/or the tax benefits. Sometimes after looking around a bit at the mountains and streams that person decides a combination of rental and second home is best after all.
It’s easy to forget what a special place you live in until someone with such enthusiasm makes you take a second look. I love those moments.
