If “south of the border” means either Arizona or Mexico to you, you’ll need to get out your map or Google this small, friendly city northwest of Miami. Clearwater has 106,081 residents on the Gulf Coast. The Tampa International Airport is just a 25-minute drive away.
Famous for pristine beaches that stretch for miles, the city has 26 golf courses close at hand and a cornucopia of restaurants and boutiques. Clearwater’s residents and investors enjoy a lifestyle that’s the envy of Miami, a four-hour drive away, for a fraction of the cost.
In response to the economic challenges of a real estate market in slow recovery, Water’s Edge in downtown Clearwater slashed prices last year by up to 50 per cent to capture markets. “Since July 2010 we have sold 50 per cent of our inventory at up to 50 per cent off the original prices,” says Dave Traynor, director of sales for Water’s Edge from his office in Clearwater -adding that buyers are from all over the U.S. and Canada, with Canadian interest stretching from B.C. to Quebec.
