Canadians Flock to Arizona to Buy Real Estate

Not all Canadians are looking for an inexpensive winter escape in Arizona -far from it. For the past two years, almost a home per week has been sold in the Sonoran Valley for at least $1 million US to a Canadian buyer, says a non-profit trade council.

The majority of the homes are in Scottsdale and other areas like Fountain Hills, says the CanadaArizona Business Council.

But Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler and Queen Creek are also on the luxury list, with individual sales between $1.3 million and nearly $3.8 million. “The transactions, totalling nearly $300 million, are an indication that Canada’s preference for Arizona as the No. 1 place to invest is growing,” says Glenn Williamson.

I’d think there would be a lot of Canadians buying in Southern Arizona too. I know places like Tucson and Marana are popular locations for second home owners. There are some really great communities with Arizona luxury real estate for sale too. The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain are my favorite. I came across them when I was playing golf at the hotel and noticed homes being built. I know living next to a Jack Nicklaus golf course and a resort would sell me.
