The Southern California Multiple Listing Service provided yet another sign that April was a disappointing month for home sellers and the housing industry. The combined amount of money spent buying Orange County homes through the broker-run database fell 14.4% in April from the year before.
In all, revenue dropped $200 million, from $1.4 billion in April 2010 to less than $1.2 billion this past April.
The industry got hit by a double-whammy in April: Both home prices and sales were down, tugging down total revenue generated from sales.
