Condominium sales and prices on the Big Island soared last month, but the number of single-family homes sold in June dropped 20 percent from the same month last year, according to statistics from Hawaii Information Service.
There were 65 condo units sold on the Big Island in June, which was 27 percent more than the 51 sold in June 2011. The median price of a Big Island condo in June rose 13 percent to $292,000, compared to $259,000 during the same month last year.
The median price of a single-family home on the Big Island last month was $245,000, which was a 5 percent decrease from $257,500 in June 2011. That was based on sales of 121 single-family homes, compared to 152 sold during the same month last year.
