The 2011 Housing Forecast, released Tuesday by Altus Group, predicts Alberta’s housing starts will increase by 11.7%, coming on the heels of a 8.1% decline this year compared to 2010.
The reason is a growing economy that is quickly adding jobs, leading to population growth. Most other provinces will see a double-digit drop in starts, with only Manitoba seeing a more moderate drop of 5.3% next year.
