AL: Birmingham Home Sales Up, Prices Down in January

Birmingham Home Sales in JanuaryMore homes were sold in January 2012 compared to a year before in the Birmingham area, but sold prices dropped.

According to the Birmingham Association of Realtors, residential sales in January 2012 were 594 compared to 511 in January 2011.

That’s a 16% increase. However, the average price for a home sold in January 2012 was $160,354, compared to $164,216 in January 2011, a 2% decrease.
