AL: Birmingham Home Sales Down in June and July

Alabama Real EstateMetro Birmingham home prices slid 1.7 percent in July, compared to the year-ago period, mortgage researcher CoreLogic said today.

But the decline is slimmer than the one seen in June. During that month, area home prices fell 2.8 percent from June 2010, according to revised data from CoreLogic.

The data also shows that sales of foreclosed homes are dragging down prices.
