Every year, The Advocate ranks the cities in the US for queer friendliness based on a number of criteria. This year, the criteria includes lesbian bars, trans events, gay rugby teams, theaters screening “Moonlight”, Misterb&b hosts, LGBT centers, and more. Here’s today’s pick:
The star of the South is really becoming one of the country’s great queer centers. The city has its own Trans Pride celebration, an operating lesbian bar (My Sister’s Room), a gay rugby team, showings of Moonlight, an LGBT center, and it hosted the band Pwr Bttm. Basically, it nailed nearly all aspects of our criteria of what makes a queer city. The city also makes a concerted effort to assist homeless and/or struggling LGBT youth. More on Atlanta here.
