The small, inner-ring suburb of Collingswood is the poster-child success story of modern urban development. Through the actions of a community of concerned citizens and local government leaders, led by three-time mayor Jim Maley, Collingswood has been reclaimed from approaching urban blight. The goal of the city is to build its future by restoring its past.

Through providing excellent city services, master-planned redevelopment of both downtown businesses and surrounding neighborhoods, and encouragement of the arts and education, Collingswood is not only building that strong future, but is flourishing in the process. At the city center is 60-acre Knight’s Park. This lush oasis is used by the public schools and sports leagues and as a location for many of the city’s festivals and events. Spreading out from this hub are neighborhoods filled with a mix of longtime residents and newcomers.

With solid incentive programs and city investment in property and residents, the circle around that lush oasis is growing larger.
