“Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas,” the sign proclaims. Kitsch museums, drag queens, showgirls, roller coasters, neon, gambling, high art, and an abundance of jobs are the backdrop of this desert oasis. There’s never a shortage of entertainment or fun in Las Vegas, the true city that never sleeps.
Casinos glitter and shine 24 hours a day. Visions of Venice, Paris, New York, Egypt, and medieval England greet you as you travel the famed, American Scenic Highway: the Las Vegas Strip. Just as the casinos are, bars and clubs are also open around the clock and provide something for every taste and desire. They don’t call this the Wild West for nothing. True to the moniker, “What Happens Here Stays Here,” Sin City is quite tolerant and diverse.
With more than 26 million annual visitors from around the world and a local population that increases by the thousands monthly, Las Vegas caters to a cross section of cultures and attitudes. A live-and-let- live attitude is most prominent. Those staying, playing, and living in this gay-friendly city will find the locals and businesses exceptionally tolerant.
