The Advocate's 7th Gayest City: Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota

Jan 13th, 2012

It's technically two cities, but oh, what fun there is to be had here. The region is a draw for upper Midwestern LGBTs, and Minneapolis (pictured) topped this list in 2011 for so many reasons. These two cities can't get enough of each other: There's the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus (TCGMC.org), Twin Cities Pride (the 40th annual is June 23-24),... read_more

Looking for Gay Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota Real Estate?

Feb 1st, 2011

Minneapolis is a city for all seasons. Fall is visually striking. The air is crisp and the trees turn brilliant shades of red, yellow, and orange, making the miles of trails along the Mississippi River, area lakes, and Minnesota River Valley a picturesque playground. Winter brings ice skating, cross country and downhill skiing, ice fishing, and more.

At Gay Realty Network, we list gay friendly real estate professionals all across the United States.

Minnesota, often called the Land of 10,000 Lakes, sits along the US-Canadian border, and is home to 5.3 million people. Minnesota is generally a progressive state, and has high literacy rates and voter turnout.

Minneapolis-Saint Paul is the state's largest metro region, with 60% of the state's residents. Saint Paul is the state's capital, but Minneapolis is the larger of the two cities. The cities serve as a gay mecca for LGBT folks in the northern midwest. The Twin Cities were early supporters of bans on anti gay discrimination, and there are many gay clubs and bars in the Downtown Minneapolis area. Oh and the shopping - everyone who comes here has to make the pilgrimage to the Mall if America, practically a city in itself.

If northern hospitality is your thing and you're looking for a state with progressive politics, Minnesota may be the state for you.

At Gay Realty Network, we know from experience how important having gay or gay friendly real estate agent can be, especially when it's time to make an offer and fill out a contract. Having an agent that knows the difference between having joint tenancy or holding a property as tenants in common, who understands gay/lesbian families and our own unique real estate needs and challenges, and who can help you find the gay friendly neighborhoods in your area where you and your friends and family will feel comfortable is invaluable.
