At Gay Realty Network, we list gay friendly real estate professionals all across the United States.

Maine is New England personified - a rugged, independent, maritime state bordering the North Atlantic Ocean. Maine has taken a conservative turn recently, but this was still one of the first states to (briefly) legalize gay marriage before voters overturned the measure, and we have high hopes that the tide will turn yet again.

Maine is known for its seafood, especially the famous Maine lobsters; it also possesses a coastline filled with wild beauty, from Washington County in the north through Penobscot Bay on the central coast, all the way down to gay friendly Ogunquit near the New Hampshire border.

Ogunquit is one of the most gay friendly towns in the United States. with a year-round gay and lesbian population, with gay clubs and bars, restaurants, and shops to keep the gay traveler happy. Ogunquit is only four square miles, but it packs in a lot, including quaint Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way, a lovely seaside path that connects Ogunquit proper to Perkins Cove.

Just a little north of Ogunquit, also on the coast, you'll find Portland, the capital of Maine and another liberal bastion. Portland is home to one of the largest gay and lesbian communities on the East Coast. At less than 70,000 residents, it's big enough to offer city amenities but small enough to retain a nice small-town feel.

If Atlantic fishing villages and wild New England natural beauty set your heart a flutter, look for real estate in Maine.

At Gay Realty Network, we know from experience how important having gay or gay friendly real estate agent can be, especially when it's time to make an offer and fill out a contract. Having an agent that knows the difference between having joint tenancy or holding a property as tenants in common, who understands gay/lesbian families and our own unique real estate needs and challenges, and who can help you find the gay friendly neighborhoods in your area where you and your friends and family will feel comfortable is invaluable.
