At Gay Realty Network, we list gay friendly real estate professionals all across the United States.

Illinois is often considerd a microcosm of the entire USA, and has close to 13 million residents, with 65% of them living in the Greater Chicago area. Illinois borders Lake Michigan on the north east, and siys entirely in the Interior Plains. Illinois has a wide variation of climates, but mostly experiences cold winters and hot and humid summers.

Illinois now recognizes civil unions for gay and lesbian couples.

Chicago is the largest metropolitan area in the midwest, and the word "Metropolitan" truly applies here. Though there is a large gay district (North Halstead Street or Boystown) and a gay neighborhoon, Andersonville, a little fa rther north, the men of Chicago are very metrosexual as a general rule - when we visited the city several years ago, it was hard to tell the straight guys from the gay guys. Chicago is well known as the Windy City for the steady winds that blow in off of Lake Michigan.

As the country's third largest city, Chicago boasts a gay and lesbian population to match. There are many gay and lesbian bars and clubs in the city, many on or around North Halsted Street.

Springfield is the state capital, and sits in the heart of Illinos, next to Lake Springfield. The city has a few gay bars and a small but well-connected gay and lesbian community.

If you're a midwesterner at heart but yearn for the sophistication and culture of the big city, Illinois may be the state for you.

At Gay Realty Network, we know from experience how important having gay or gay friendly real estate agent can be, especially when it's time to make an offer and fill out a contract. Having an agent that knows the difference between having joint tenancy or holding a property as tenants in common, who understands gay/lesbian families and our own unique real estate needs and challenges, and who can help you find the gay friendly neighborhoods in your area where you and your friends and family will feel comfortable is invaluable.
