Wide Differences Between List Prices and Sales Prices in Washington DC, Atlanta Real Estate Markets

Apr 20th, 2012

The asking price is the starting point for all home sales, a ballpark figure typically close to what buyers end up paying. But the nation's real estate market is so out of whack, experts say, that in many cities the gap between the asking and purchase prices has grown enormous. In fact, while home sales are on the decline nationally,... read_more

Atlanta Economy Improves, But House Prices Still Dropping

Apr 18th, 2012

The housing market and employment used to go hand in hand. But lately they're like a once happy couple that hung together through the toughest of times, and then -- just when things brightened a little -- decided to go their separate ways, at least temporarily. On the jobs front, unemployment in metro Atlanta has been slowly improving. After deep... read_more

Gay Real Estate: Atlanta's North Druid Hills

Mar 15th, 2012

Atlanta is gaining great popularity as the "go to" city for America's gay population but something occurred to us. How are you going to enjoy what this city has to offer as a gay individual if you don't know where other gay individuals are. A wise man once said "Go to the place where all roads lead." A relationship... read_more

Barrons' Twenty Best Places to Buy a Second Home: Sea Island, Georgia

Mar 9th, 2012

For second homes in America's most affluent locations, the past year was ugly. No way else to describe it. Median home prices were down 50% in North Lake Tahoe, and 44% on Martha's Vineyard, to cite two examples. Last year was brutal for second homes in the nation's most affluent areas. But the market is firming up again. Here's our list,... read_more

We won’t fault you for trying to forget Real Housewife Kim Zolciak’s dip into the lesbian pool — but don’t blame Atlanta if everyone there wants to sample the fun LGBTs have all over town. At Gay Realty Network, we list gay friendly real estate professionals all across the United States.

Georgia is a geographically diverse state, bordering on the Atlantic Ocean on the east and climbing to the Blue Ridge Mountains in the north. The Peach State has close to 10 million residents, and the climate here is best described as steamy - in the summers, almost the whole of Georgia is hot and humid, and the state receives a lot of rain.

Atlanta is the state capital and the largest city, with half a million living within the city boundaries and more than five million in the Greater Atlanta area. The city is one of the South's primary transportation hubs, and is home to CNN, Coca-Cola, Home Depot, UPS, and Delta Airlines.

Known in many gay circles as Hotlanta, Atlanta is the most metropolitan city in the South, with over 50% of its residents coming from somewhere else. The city is very gay friendly, with many gay barsm most in the midtown area. Inman Park and Five Little Points is one of Atlanta's gay neighborhoods - it's a historic neighborhood full of beautiful Victorian homes tha dates to the 19th century, but is now a trendy, busy district filled with gay friendly shops and restaurants.

If the idea of hot southern gentlemen warms your cockles (and what the heck are cockles, anyway?) Atlanta and the state of Georgia might be the place for you.

At Gay Realty Network, we know from experience how important having gay or gay friendly real estate agent can be, especially when it's time to make an offer and fill out a contract. Having an agent that knows the difference between having joint tenancy or holding a property as tenants in common, who understands gay/lesbian families and our own unique real estate needs and challenges, and who can help you find the gay friendly neighborhoods in your area where you and your friends and family will feel comfortable is invaluable.
